The EU Referendum

Our position on the EU referendum debate is simple. This is your vote.

TaxpayerScotland takes no corporate view on how that vote should be cast. Our aims, as always, are to urge the state to be transparent about the way it spends our money, to constrain its spending and avoid further debt and growing deficits. The outcomes we seek are lower tax rates, a much simpler tax regime, and the jobs and growth that would generate.

We therefore aim to avoid any comment for one side or the other in this national debate.

We will, however, continue to comment on any specific wasteful or unnecessary use of our money by Brussels through any of its programmes that affect Scotland. And we will certainly be on the lookout for the use of any taxpayers' money to support a particular point of view within the debate.
